In Katie Rose’s irresistible battle of wits, a case of mistaken identity lands a female fan in bed with a sexy superstar—and in major-league trouble.

House-sitting for a rich and famous friend has its perks, and Darcy Hamel isn’t shy about enjoying them. Especially when it means scoring a ticket to an exclusive fashion show hosted by the New Jersey Sonics. An avid baseball fan, Darcy has always dreamed of meeting the team—especially the starting pitcher whose body is as hot as his fastball. But there’s a catch. The gala is by invitation only. To get behind the velvet rope, mild-mannered Darcy will have to pose as party girl Lydia Logan.

Schmoozing is one of the downsides of fame, but Chase Westbrook knows how to liven up even the dullest event. And nothing spices a night up more than a beautiful socialite with a naughty reputation. What Chase doesn’t expect is a hint of sweetness beneath her sultry fa├žade. Flirtation turns to seduction and leaves him aching for more. Chase just doesn’t know who the real Lydia is: the spoiled tease crying foul over some missing diamonds or the alluring woman making a play for his heart.

Cinderella, meet Prince Charming. Prince Charming, meet Cinderella.

Darcy's not Hollywood beautiful, wealthy, or famous. She's a housekeeper to a socialite, struggling to write a screenplay, and her notarioty isn't that widespread. But she's beautiful in a girl next door way, genuine when it matters, and isn't the least bit interested in becoming famous. With all that being said, can you really blame her for taking the chance of a lifetime and going in her employer Lydian Logan's place to a charity event where she'd have the chance to meet the baseball player of her dreams? Yeah, no. Don't think I can either, lol.

Chase is the star pitcher for the Sonics. Making nice with the rich and famous isn't his idea of a good time, but he's willing to make the exception when he finds out a certain socialite with a penchant for craziness is going to be at a charity event he's attending. Thing is, she doesn't reconcile the images he's seen or the reports he's read of her. The sex goddess is there, but so is the girl next door. The more time he spends with her, the more confused he becomes. Who exactly is Lydia Logan?

This is going to sound strange, but my favorite part of this story is the night of the charity event. I laughed at how drunk Darcy was, and sighed when Chase took care of her. Then I laughed again when she promptly fell asleep, snoring included, during their lovemaking. Yep. You read it right. In bed with the most handsome man she 's ever met, and she falls asleep. I about died laughing! How do you redeem yourself after that?

The differences in their lifestyles weren't the only things that mirrored reality. The emotional roller coaster they were on did as well. There were moments of uncertainty and absolute, of anger and forgiveness, of acceptance and love. A Cinderella story wouldn't be complete without a happy ending, and the one that happened for Chase and Darcy was expected...but not. A fun filled, Cinderella focused romance that shows how important truth is, why it's one of the founding bricks in any relationship, and how having it all isn't a guarantee to having and experiencing real love and happiness.

Award-winning historical author Katie Rose makes her contemporary debut with the Boys of Summer novels, Bring on the Heat and Too Hot to Handle, which combine Katie’s true loves: baseball and romance! When not watching baseball, Katie is at her lake house in New Jersey, hard at work on her next book.
