Guest Post & Giveaway: 5 Random Things about Ascension and A.S. Fenichel / @TastyBookTours @asfenichel

The lovely A.S. Fenichel has stopped by today to share a few random things with you about herself and/or her latest release Ascension!

Thanks for having me, Miriam :) Here we go!

I thought of the idea for the story while daydreaming and had no idea how the scene I imagined was going to turn into a book. All I did know was that scene wouldn’t let me go and I had to write it down. A woman of means, in a ball gown, sneaking into a garden at night, the image left so many questions and finding the answers became an obsession.

Ascension was originally a stand-alone book. I was one third through writing and became completely stumped with how to go forward. Walking down my road one morning, I realized the story was more than one book. The romance between Belinda and Gabriel was this story, but so many more characters needed their stories told and the demon problem… I don’t want to give anything away, but there was no way to resolve everything in one book.

My favorite thing about the book is that within the Demon Hunter Company there is no class or sex distinction. Lords and ladies are on equal footing with coachmen and scullery maids. It’s my idea of a perfect world, I suppose. I mean other than the fact that demons are trying to take over. ;) The “real” world is still out there and the characters sometimes struggle with straddling the line between the Company and society.

Gabriel has spent four years in France fighting and rotting in a prison. He has suffered a betrayal that spurs his suspicions of his fiancée’s behavior. It’s no wonder the changes in Belinda have him thinking she’s been unfaithful.

Ascension is the book of my heart. I had no idea how I would get it published when I wrote it. I just knew I had to write it. I know you are going to love this book as much as I do.

~~~
I'm sure many of us will enjoy it! Thank you so much for stopping by and taking time to share these fun things about yourself and your novel!
When he sees her sneaking away from a ball, he’s convinced it’s for a lover’s rendezvous. Following her to London’s slums, Gabriel watches in horror as his fiancée ruthlessly slays a man.
Lady Belinda Carlisle’s only concern was her dress for the next ball—until demons nearly killed her and changed everything. A lady by day, and a demon hunter by night, she knows where her duty lies. Ending her betrothal is the best way to protect Gabriel from death by a demon’s hand.  Gabriel soon realizes, like him, Belinda has been fighting for her country. He joins in the fight, determined to show her that their love can endure, stronger than ever.
