Following his divorce, Felix Sinclair vowed to never commit to a woman again...until he washed up on Poppy Montgomery's doorstep, proving that sometimes taking the road less traveled pays off.
One night of passion promised a lifetime of happiness, but when Felix begins to grow distant, disappearing for long periods of time without an explanation, Poppy begins to suspect that Felix may not be as committed to her as he claims.
They say the hardest part of love is trusting your heart to someone else, but Poppy is about to find out that sometimes the hardest part may be letting go.
People used to tell me that trust was the foundation for any great relationship to thrive and last. I would add that communication and friendship are as well. However, one moment of uncertainty can tear apart all of that and bring complete ruin to what was once a great relationship.
That was this story. Poppy has trust issues, a product of her past. Felix has them as well, a product of a marriage that nearly destroyed him. In each other they found a happiness neither knew existed, and a love and passion that made their nights, as well as their days, worth look forward to.
And they nearly lost it all because of insecurities and doubts.
Trust is hard to build. It's hard to maintain when it's initial foundation is shaky and brittle. Proving you're worthy of that trust takes time and patience but the end--a relationship that is honest and transparent and real--is worth all of that effort. It was a lesson hard-learned when this story was all said and done. Still, this is a good story, one with a real life lesson that can apply to anyone, whether they're in the same position or not.
When in doubt, ask. If the answers that come are not to your liking but you trust that that person isn't reneging on you, then trust what they say and wait. The answer that will come will soothe all those doubts and fears away.
