Lily James has always been a bit of a loner. Her mom and stepdad don’t get her and the kids at school either make fun of her or ignore her. She doesn’t have much in common with kids her own age, probably because she doesn’t feel her age. She likes stuffed animals, coloring books and bows and she doesn’t care if that makes her a weirdo.

With only a few months left before she graduates from high school, she has no clue what to do with her life next.

Then she writes to a soldier overseas and suddenly, her future seems clear. She needs to be his.

*Warning: This is a quick, steamy, love by letter book. Looking for a Daddy who loves taking care of his baby girl? Then this is the book for you!

Lily is a little, although she doesn't initially know it. She has younger-than-her-age tenancies and preferences that everyone, including her mom and stepdad, finds weird. She's an outcast because of them but she refuses to change who she was to gain approval from anyone.

The military pen pal program she's a part of gives her chances to befriend someone far from home, maybe exchange a few pleasantries, and send them a little bit of home away from home. This round of letter writing brought her Major Luke Matthews, who becomes more than a pen pal. He becomes her Daddy.

Luke's unconditional acceptance of who and what Lily is is refreshing against the backdrop of rejection and intolerance that introduced her to me. It took letters and desserts for their relationship to grow from friendship to love. It took Luke returning for their DD/lg relationship to really begin.

Now, I don't know if Ms. Hart's ever written a DD/lg story before so I can't compare this to anything of hers before. What I can say though is this story is incredibly sweet. It's probably the sweetest DD/lg I've ever read. There's plenty of heat once Luke and Lily meet and begin their lives together, but this story lacks the front-and-center disciplinarian aspect the Daddy role usually has. It IS there, a light mention, but mostly absent. It's kinda nice, to be honest.

I liked this story. I'm not big on DD/lg stories either 'cause of the disciplinarian facet. It can sometimes be too heavy for me to enjoy the story. Since it's mostly absent here, I was able to enjoy everything about Luke and Lily's story and relationship. If you can embrace the sugary sweetness of this story that has just a hint of disciplinarian Daddy but a whole lot of loving Daddy, this is the story for you.
