Four months later, Gigi’s living at Badgley Hall contemplating an entirely new kind of life while guilt, regret, and obligation keep calling her back to her old one. Will Gigi stay in South Gloucestershire, marry Gideon, and become the Countess of Harronsby?

Love interrupted doesn't mean love ended.

Gigi and Perry's love for one another hasn't diminished, despite life, despite circumstances, despite attempts to move on. Sometimes, that kind of love just needs a reminder of why it exists in the first place. Because a love like this isn't built on convenience or face-saving moments. It exists because it's meant to; because two lives and hearts are incomplete without each other; because there will never be another for them.

I read this book first then circled back and read the first two. Knowing how the story ends made the ups and downs of Gigi and Perry's relationship easier to handle, though, admittedly, I felt I cheated myself by reading out of order. As much as I learn life by experiencing, I learn a character by experiencing as well.

Gigi and Perry's story is years in the making. There is so much to take in from all three books, yes, but this book brings their story to completion. It binds all that time together and apart in a beautiful story that is one to read again and again. It reveals how much they've grown, Gigi especially, into the people they are now, the people they can be with and to one another.

Ms. Merlin is a new-to-me author. Her writing is engaging, lighthearted, sweet, humorous, and thought-provoking. She doesn't skim over difficult issues but doesn't let their gravity push the story into darker realms either. Life happens. You experience, you learn, you grow. It took three books, too many years, lots of ups and downs, but Gigi and Perry's story was worth it. An easy, lazy day read with lots of heart that is worth reading more than once.

Beth Merlin has a BA from The George Washington University where she minored in Creative Writing and a JD from New York Law School. She’s a native New Yorker who loves anything Broadway, rom-coms, her daughter Hadley, and a good maxi dress. She was introduced to her husband through a friend she met at sleepaway camp and considers the eight summers she spent there to be some of the most formative of her life. One S’more Summer is Beth’s debut novel.
